Application of LiDAR-Derived Data using Multi-Criteria Evaluation (MCE) and Stochastic Modelling; A Flood Risk Analysis of the Mersey River, Nova Scotia

چکیده
The Maritime province of Nova Scotia has seen coastal flooding become a more frequent phenomenon during the past decades due to changing climate regime. This influenced interest provincial and federal governments have in flood risk modelling, who often incorporate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as useful tools their analysis. Incorporating LiDAR-derived digital elevation models (DEMs) workflows is next step hydrological analysis, DEMs offer high resolution data for analysis without need rely on biotic or data. study aims follow this theme order model effects inland low relief landscape Mersey River, located Queen’s County, Scotia, its infrastructure built along river network. included multi-criteria evaluation (MCE) methods coupled with stochastic simulation approach determine areas where vulnerability most certain. Results indicated that present urbanized within 1 km River at degree uncertainty, making them best candidates flood-preventive measures. accuracy provided by supported high-quality workflow MCE DEM error proving utility floodplain delineation. addition historical future projects could build results presented study, adding literature modelling River.

Flood Risk Mapping Using LiDAR for Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada
A significant portion of the Canadian Maritime coastline has been surveyed with airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). The purpose of these surveys has been to map the risk of flooding from storm surges and projected long-term sea-level rise from climate change and to include projects in all three Maritime Provinces: Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. LiDAR provides th...
متن کاملIntegrated River and Coastal Hydrodynamic Flood Risk Mapping of the LaHave River Estuary and Town of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada
Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, is located 20 km inland from the mouth of the LaHave River estuary on the Atlantic Coast of Canada. Bridgewater is at risk of flooding due to the combined effects of river runoff and a storm surge on top of high tide. Projected increases in sea-level and possible increased river runoff with climate change increase the risk of future flooding. A set of river and ocean w...
